Changing the Narrative
Xolo Maridueña (star of Blue Beetle, and Cobra Kai) is the on-camera presenter of Migrant Child Farmworkers to High-Profile Professionals© the original documentary film featuring the stories of eleven children, many of whom grew up with seemingly overwhelming problems including homelessness, hunger and poverty. Six of the group worked as full-time as migrant child farm laborers with any earnings going to help support their family. Society’s cruel indifference to what they were going through exacerbated the pain they had to endure.
Today they are medical doctors, research scientists, engineers, educators, leaders elected to the U.S. Congress and California state government, and a former big law attorney turned Hollywood talent manager. Their impressive accomplishments include authoring hundreds of scientific research papers published in The New England Journal of Medicine; contributing to the development of pivotal Apple products and teaching medicine at Stanford School of Medicine and UCSF Fresno.
Their success, in defiance of all odds and adversity, is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. Their ability to turn childhood poverty and hardship into personal and professional triumph showcases what is possible for all. A timely reminder of the limitless human potential of every child, no matter their background or circumstances. Reaffirming why all children (human beings) deserve to be treated with dignity, considered to be equally important and as such, worthy to receive every opportunity to flourish.
